How to complete a follow-up inspection
You may have the re-inspection following a periodic inspection carried out at an inspection station of your choice. If the 1-month deadline is missed, the periodic inspection must be carried out again in full.
- Repair the defects marked on the inspection certificate that caused the rejection.
- Take the vehicle for re-inspection within 1 month of the original inspection.
- Bring the inspection certificate and any repair or measurement reports.
Can a rejected vehicle be driven?
The 1-month re-inspection deadline and the right to use the vehicle are separate matters. The 2-month use rule for a rejected vehicle does not apply to a vehicle that has been removed from traffic use.
| Situation | Use of the vehicle |
|---|---|
| Rejected within the inspection period, no driving ban | The vehicle may be used for up to 2 months after rejection once the defects that caused the rejection have been repaired. |
| Inspection carried out after the inspection period expired | The vehicle is prohibited from use. Driving it for repairs requires the inspector's permission or a transfer permit; it may be driven to a pre-booked re-inspection or periodic inspection without that permission. |
| The vehicle was placed under a driving ban | The vehicle may not be used in traffic. Moving it for repairs and back to inspection requires the inspector's permission or a transfer permit. |
Is the inspection decision unclear?
First ask the inspection station for an explanation of the grounds for the decision. If needed, you can also review the instructions for requesting rectification of an inspection decision.
Vehicle tax before inspection
Yes. Overdue vehicle tax and late-payment interest must be paid. A prohibition of use caused by unpaid tax prevents approval of the inspection. Future instalments do not need to be paid early.
