When might a modification inspection be required?
A modification inspection may be required when you change the vehicle's structure, purpose of use or information recorded in the register. Changes to the chassis, engine, seating or masses are assessed case by case based on the vehicle and modification.
Send this information in your first message
- Registration number or VIN, make, model and year of first use.
- What is being changed, for example chassis, engine, seats, body, masses or purpose of use.
- Manufacturer and model of the parts being changed, plus available approval and installation documents.
- Is the modification only planned or already completed? Attach clear photos or technical documentation if they help with assessment.

The station will tell you which certificates are required and confirm a suitable time and price. Keep approval and installation documents for the parts. Any expert statement or exemption is agreed separately.
