Registration inspection

A registration inspection checks the vehicle's technical data, structure, equipment and, where applicable, condition, and verifies that it meets the requirements applicable in Finland.

What to bring?

  • Vehicle.
  • Foreign registration certificate; when importing from an EEA country, both parts if the certificate has two parts.

Depending on the situation, also bring

  • CoC certificate, i.e. the manufacturer’s certificate of EU type approval and technical data.
  • Other technical documentation or a previous inspection certificate, depending on the vehicle and country of origin.
  • Ownership and customs documents for actual registration, if required.

What is a CoC certificate?

A CoC is a certificate of conformity issued by the manufacturer. It shows the approved vehicle type and its technical data. It is not required in every import situation.

Inspection and registration are separate stages

Passing the registration inspection does not yet mean the vehicle is registered or ready for road use. Registration, any vehicle taxation, motor liability insurance and plates are handled in the order required by the situation.

Is emissions testing included in €140?

No. The price covers registration inspection of an imported vehicle up to 3,500 kg. Emissions testing, registration and plates are priced separately.

What if the second part of the registration certificate is missing?

Do not assume that the first part alone is sufficient. Send the available information to the station before your visit. The required documentation depends on the country of origin and the vehicle’s situation.

Is a CoC always required?

Not in every case. The need depends on the vehicle and what information can be verified from other documents. Send the documents in advance for review.
